bjbourgAbout BJ Bourg:

BJ Bourg is an award-winning mystery writer and former professional boxer who hails from the swamps of Louisiana. Dubbed the “real deal” by other mystery writers, he has spent his entire adult life solving crimes as a patrol cop, detective sergeant, and chief investigator for a district attorney’s office. Throughout his career, he has conducted well over 150 death investigations, including murders, suicides, natural deaths, justifiable homicides, officer-involved shootings, and accidental deaths. He amassed a 100% arrest and conviction rate on all murder cases to which he was assigned, and his ability to effectively interrogate suspects and recreate crime scenes has played a pivotal role in his success as a homicide investigator.

Not only does BJ know his way around crime scenes, interrogations, and courtrooms, but he also served as a SWAT operator, police sniper commander, and police academy instructor. He earned the title of “Top Shooter” at an FBI sniper school and was deployed as primary sniper on countless tactical operations, which included barricaded subjects, hostage situations, counter-drug operations, and felony fugitive apprehensions. He has provided basic and advanced training to police cadets, veteran officers, snipers, SWAT operators, judges, assistant district attorneys, firemen, and writers, covering a wide array of subjects, to include firearms, defensive tactics, officer survival, homicide investigations, interviews and interrogations, crime scene processing, sex crimes, and many others.

BJ is a regular contributor to two leading national police magazines, Tactical Response and Law and Order, and more of his nonfiction articles have been featured in Boys’ Life and Writer’s Digest. His short fiction has appeared in many magazines, including Woman’s World and Future’s Mystery Magazine, and he is the author of seven published novels, one of which won the 2016 EPIC eBook Award for Best Mystery. He is the former owner/editor of Mouth Full of Bullets, an online mystery magazine, and he currently runs an online flash fiction publication called Flash Bang Mysteries.

Above all else, BJ is a father and husband, and the highlight of his life is spending time with his beautiful wife and wonderful children.
